“OneTwoKno” knows how to switch on the Red Light”
Chicago's Mc/Producer and Remixer “OneTwoKno” is defintely one to watch out for: Tremdensously talented, and influenced by the likes of Prince, J Dilla, Rakim and Diplo, this sound wizzard has already been sharing the stage with Überband The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, British singer Estelle and rapper B.O.B, as well as working with the wonderful Scarlet Monk on her album “AnnaBella” producing both “De-Stress” and “Permission”.
His latest release, a remix LP called “Red Light Special” (to be released by New York's electronica superlabel and talent factory Global Vortex Records on the 2nd of January) is a compilation of ten tracks, among those many ranging from e.g contemporary R&B/ Indie Pop (check out “OneTwoKno's" remix of Drake's “Doin' it wrong” and Foster the People's “Pumped up Kicks” to alt-rock hmyns, e.g (No Doubt's “Don't Speak”) and classic indie rock (Radiohead's “Reckoner”).
Not one to be known for being easily labeled, this arranger brings back an emotive, touching, seductive, sexy and pure element to the music that so many producers nowadays seem to have lost touch with, and offers his own interpretation of each track - dreamy, playful and sincere but always precise to the cut, with an “oldschool” yet superfresh edge and a splash of downtempo to it.
With his “real” and clean approach to every track he works his magic on, “OneTwoKno” “let's the music play” like no other. Time to hit the red light!
